BoldMoves is headed by Nancy Ames Slabine and Richard M. Wizansky, Ed.D. They each bring decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, fund development and training. Both have dedicated their long and successful careers to improving the sustainability, growth and impact of the nonprofits with whom they worked either as staff or consultants.
Their management and teaching experience add zest and expertise to practical trainings which engage staff and focus on integrating fundraising into organizational culture to achieve maximum success. Each has raised millions of dollars for nonprofits, winning both major and small awards from federal, state, and local agencies; private foundations; and corporate sponsors.

Nancy Ames Slabine
For more than 40 years, Nancy has engaged in nonprofit strategic planning and organizational development, fundraising, grant writing and program design and management. Using her strong conceptual, writing and relationship skills, she has succeeded in raising millions of dollars in funding from federal and state agencies, private foundations, and corporate sponsors.
From 1985-2007, Nancy served as vice president of Education Development Center (EDC), a global nonprofit dedicated to promoting health and education around the world. As a corporate officer, she helped to set overall strategic direction for the organization, build strategic partnerships, interact with potential funders and other clients, and engage in media relations and communications. As the director of FSC she built and managed an effective team that eventually grew from 15 to 75 professionals. During her 22- year tenure, EDC expanded from a small $4.5 million dollar organization to a large nonprofit organization with revenues in excess of $120 million dollars—that’s 26 times its original size.
Prior to joining EDC, Nancy spent 13 years as a senior researcher and deputy division manager at Abt Associates Inc., a global policy research firm, where she wrote several winning 6-figure proposals and managed a variety of education, criminal justice, and health promotion projects. Upon leaving EDC in 1997, Nancy launched her own consulting firm, CORE Consulting, through which she provided development and other services to several nonprofit organizations. She joined forces with Richard in 2012 to create BoldMoves consulting.

Richard M. Wizansky, Ed.D.
Richard has raised tens of millions of dollars for nonprofits over the past thirty years, specializing in obtaining 6-figure plus contributions from foundations, corporations and individuals. This success is based on his skills in establishing high level relationships with key local and national funders and utilizing networks to gain access. Also crucial to this success is Richard’s acumen in integrating fundraising into organizational culture so that leadership, staff and board of directors are invested in collaborating to optimize fund development opportunities.
From 1989 to 2011, Richard served in a variety of leadership roles with SCA—The Student Conservation Association, including Development Director, Senior Director for Institutional Advancement and Associate Vice President for Corporate Relations. In the latter role, Richard established SCA’s corporate partnership program and brought corporate revenue from zero to more than 3 million dollars annually within the first eighteen months of his leadership.
Richard has also consulted extensively on fundraising issues to hospitals, theatres, libraries and community organizations and, for years, has presented fund development trainings and workshops throughout New England.
Prior to joining SCA, Richard taught English Literature and Composition at Tufts University and Greenfield Community College. As a principal of BoldMoves, he uses these decades of teaching experience and fundraising to elevate and ignite the practice’s unique training capabilities.
